Ah, summertime! Blooming wildflowers, sun-kissed sun, beachy colored clothing with corals and sea glass colors, and happy people. All of these things also equate to an awesome outdoors family photography session! The “S” family decided on a beautiful spot in DeKalb county for their summer evening session. They wanted outdoor photos done before their oldest son headed away to college and before the younger son went back to high school, so we scheduled them for early August. They love the great outdoors and beautiful scenery and are always up for a bit of a hike, so this spot was just perfect for all of us. We definitely got some steps in that evening! I talked to mom about what type of scenery she would like to see hung on her walls when deciding on a location, and this one was a great match!
While getting to know this sweet family, we realized that we know many of the same people in Batavia, Elburn, and Kane County. It was like the Kevin Bacon six degrees thing! Mom and dad even went to high school with my next-door neighbors. Talk about a small world.
Tips for summer family photo sessions: bring water, bug spray, and funny jokes and inside secrets never hurt, too!
Thank you, “S” family, for such a great summer night out. I loved getting to know all of you and your photos make me want summer to arrive now! 🙂

Now, a year ago, these family photos mean the world to us! Getting late teen boys to partake in a photo session is not always easy, but Laura made the experience painless and enjoyable as we took in the beauty of the prairie and the evening and each other! I can’t wait to share our senior photo shoot this year with friends and family to mark another important milestone in our lives. Thanks, Laura, for capturing these moments we will cherish always.
Loved your summer session, A, and can’t wait to share your son’s senior session soon, too!! 🙂
