Winter wonderland photography in Elburn and Sugar Grove?  Yes, please! These photos were taken in the small Kaneland towns of Elburn and Sugar Grove, in beautiful rural western Kane County, Illinois.  A winter storm, complete with hoarfrost and rime ice, recently hit the Fox Valley area.  As a photographer, I was giddy with this change in weather patterns.  I am a weather geek, so I know this was going to be a beautiful site to see.  It’s not every day we have hoarfrost and a soft layer of fresh snow, with mild temperatures!  Winter is inevitable in the midwest, but if we have to have it, I wish it was always this beautiful!

I visited several different locations in the Kane County Forest Preserve system.  My goal was to capture their beauty, and to also incorporate some artisty into the images.  I know these parks and trails well as my family hikes them on a regular basis, especially the ones in Elburn and Sugar Grove in Kaneland.  We love having these beautiful trails and parks within a short drive of where we live.  They are full of  wildlife and serenity.  We see something new on every hike, and always return home re-energized.  Even our dog gets excited when we pull into one of the parking lots!

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from this season’s winter wonderland.  All of these photos (and many others!) from Elburn and Sugar Grove are available for purchase through my website!  Items such as prints, canvases, metals, coffee mugs, cards, and so much more are available and are professionally printed right here in the U.S.!  Just click this link to see what’s in the store, and thanks for looking.
